Funds for Malin Head project
Figures from Donegal County Council's annual budget document have
been released and around €500,000 from external sources will
be invested in a project to develop the Malin Head Tourism project.
The project has been described as an example of how strategic projects
are being undertaken in a collaborative manner.
The council say that Ireland's most northerly point at Malin Head
is a landmark location which has been identified as a key tourism
resource for Donegal and the north coast as a whole, and they hope
to invest the sum of €500,000 in the project over the next
two years.
A development for this location had been identified as a priority
tourism project by key agencies cooperating in a Donegal County
Development Board context and by the elected members of Donegal
County Council.
Members were told that the Community, Culture and Enterprise Directorate
of Donegal County Council is working in close cooperation with Inishowen
Development Partnership, Failte Ireland, the Loughs Agency and the
Malin Head Community. "These have initiated a work programme
with a view towards achieving the full potential of this resource
for the region."
Other council areas of expertise involved in the projects are roads,
walking/trails development officer and the archives service."
