€3.9m for Moville Housing Project
A voluntary housing project at the site of the former convent in
Moville has been allocated nearly €3.9 million by the Minister
for Housing and Urban Renewal, Noel Ahern T.D.
The Department's Capital Funding Schemes for voluntary housing
projects will fund accommodation for the elderly. The North and
West Housing (Ireland) Ltd in co-operation with Donegal County Council
will provide the 30 unit housing project.
Moville TD Cecilia Keaveney, said "This investment in voluntary
housing is a vital injection for a most worthy project on the site
of the old convent on the Main Street of Moville. The recognition
by the department endorses the work of the volunteers behind it.
As I have said before, in every voluntary group we see people that
give so much of their valuable time to help others in their community."
Deputy Keaveney went on to say " This is an important day.
It has been a long road from the original concept that has been
developed by the group. The day that the money is secured is such
a high point and a relief." She also pointed out that there
will be more hurdles to be cleared before the North and West Housing
Plan could go ahead. "I know there will probably still be anxious
moments for all involved until the day the units are allocated and
I wish the group well and look forward to the completion of both
these projects.
