McNamara's Hotel Changes Hands
McNamara's Hotel, Moville, has been bought by Scottish-Irish consortium,
Langs Ltd. The new owners will begin immediately, a series of improvements
designed to secure Three Star Status for the Hotel within two years.
Mr Frank Ferns from East Kilbride, who is one of the directors,
of Langs Consortium Ltd., said that although they had 'big plans'
for McNamara's, the jobs of the hotel's 43 employees were secure,
and they will need additional staff as they upgrade the hotel over
the next couple of years. "We want to keep the homely Irish
Country Hotel feel but improve the facilities and service available
here".
The improvements in the pipeline include plans for 20 extra rooms,
a Leisure Centre and a re-branding of the Hotel Bar. A feasibility
study of the proposed expansion has been carried out. Frank said,
"We are committed to providing better facilities for both tourists
and locals, but need to get the local people back using McNamara's
for weddings and other functions, which has not been happening.
We want to do something for the local population and we would hope
that they will give us a spin by using the hotel.
Langs Consortium Ltd has five equal partners, Peter Brady, the
Director and General Manager, Patricia Rea, Jim and Vincent Harkin,
(both originally from Clar, Redcastle) and Frank Ferns. Frank Ferns
said "The consortium decided to purchase McNamara's Hotel because
they believed the hotel had great potential.
