"Child Safety in Cars"
The National Safety Council has launched a new booklet "Child
Safety in Cars, a Guide to Selecting and Fitting Child Restraints".
The Booklet is aimed at parents, guardians, health professionals
and retailers. It is the most authoritative information resource
on the proper selection and fitting of child car seats. It is sponsored
by BUPA Ireland and is available free of charge to the public. The
booklet was produced in response to shocking revelations from recent
research.
"Parents would not willingly put their children's lives in
danger, but that's exactly what they are doing when they allow them
to travel unrestrained in cars", said Brian Farrell of the
National Safety Council. "The golden rule for parents is to
ensure that children always travel in an approved child restraint
that is suitable for their height, weight and also suitable for
the type of car being used",
The Booklet is available nationwide from libraries, Garda Stations,
Motor Tax Offices, NCT Centres, Local Authorities, Public Health
Centres and Child Car Seat retailers. The booklet can also be obtained
by calling the National Safety Council on locall 1890 200 844 or
can be downloaded from www.nsc.ie
