Cancer Care Group delighted with Inishowen Response
Donegal Action for Cancer Care is delighted with the manner in
which the people of Inishowen have responded to their aims of establishing
a network of campaign groups across the country, to demand improvements
in treatment services for cancer patients, and better access to
radiotherapy in particular.
Donegal Action for Cancer Care, was formally launched in Moville
a fortnight ago, and is made up largely of cancer patients and their
families.
Buncrana have formed a second branch following a public meeting
last week, where over 400 people turned out, and Carndonagh/Malin
have formed a third branch from that meeting. At a meeting in Letterkenny
last week, which was addressed by the regional director of cancer
services in the North West, Mr Kevin Moran, support was offered
to those who want to set up a group in their own area. It is hoped
that new branches will be set up in towns across the country.
A spokesperson for DACC said they were delighted and amazed with
the turnout, "But what made a bigger impression on us, was
the strength of feeling expressed from the floor of the meeting,
the frustration, the anger and the determination behind repeated
calls for action on cancer care services for Donegal patients."
A petition has been distributed round the county in support of
the campaign and it is hoped as many people as possible will sign
to lend their support to the cause. If you would like to record
your thoughts on this issue you can fill in our suggestion form
and it will be passed on to DACC. Click
