Second Printing of world War I book due soon
A Second edition of the book containing the names of Donegal men
who lost their lives in the First World War is being planned after
it emerged that a number of names had not been included in the first
edition.
Retired Donegal North-East T.D. Deputy Paddy Harte explained that
he had received three phone calls, which provided him with four
young men who died in the First World War which were not contained
in the first edition of County Donegal Book of Honour. "Because
of the conversations I have had with them, I am making a final appeal
to all concerned to check the first edition of the County Donegal
Book published in 2002, or have a check in the local churches or
the County Library which will have copies," he said. "It
is incredible the number of lost or forgotten names which can be
found if the memories of these people are jogged. In our search
for the names of parents, which were not found in the first search
when the emphasis was on finding the names of those who died, additional
information on over 120 names listed has been found making the book
more complete, said Mr. Harte. He added that preparation for the
reprint has now concluded, but because it is unlikely a further
reprint will happen for a long time, the reprint is being delayed
until Friday 17th September 'to be sure' that nothing is excluded,"
he concluded
It is expected that the book will be in circulation in November
in time for Christmas.
