Students urged to aim for the stars.
Primary School pupils in Inishowen are being challenged to test
the boundaries of science and technology by entering the Fás
Science Challenge project, which takes place at the Kennedy Space
Centre, in Florida, U.S.A.
Each pupil must take on the Fás Science Challenge by answering
a series of multiple-choice questions, to be in with a chance to
win.
Fifteen children will be selected for the opportunity of a lifetime
to experience science and technology in a whole new way. The will
train to be part of a space mission crew, learn about GPS systems,
build and launch their own weather balloon, check out the effects
of gravity, learn about the role of robotics in space and on Earth
and learn about Florida's environment.
Prizewinners, who are in 4th 5th or 6th class in primary school,
will be guaranteed an introduction to the excitement of science
and the wonders of space.
They will travel next March to the Kennedy Space Centre in the
U.S.A. for the week long programme accompanied by one guardian each.
