Carndonagh School Magazine launched
A celebratory, thirty year edition of Inis Dúinn will be
formally launched on Friday, 19th November at 8pm in the New Technology
building, in Carndonagh Community School. The school will be opened
from 7pm and docorated with photographs and art from past and present.
All available first year class photos will be on show along with
photographs of staff groups and extra curricular events. Three decades
of embarrassing hairstyles and questionable fashion will be revived.
Because of the huge number, one first year class from each of the
thirty years has been invited to the official launch. Former teacher,
local historian and author Sean Beattie will be MC.
The school will open to the general public from around 8.30pm after
the formalities. We would be delighted to welcome anyone interested
in renewing old friendships and rekindling memories of their time
at the school. Afterwards, in the Áras/Gym, there will be
a Reunion Supper Dance beginning at 10pm. This is open to all and
tickets are available locally or through contacting the school.
Inis Dúinn itself is 160 pages packed full of articles,
stories, reminiscences and photographs chronicling the history of
the school. The best extracts, poems and photographs have been taken
from all the past editions of the school magazine and are included
along with some of the major local, national and international events
that occurred during the course of the thirty years.
