Mercy Mission
Inishowen builder Michael Houten of Culdaff has set off to join
a nine day mercy mission to build new houses for the destitute in
Imlazamo Township near Cape Town in South Africa. Michael joins
a team of 150 Irish volunteers in the township where many live in
9 x 9 houses without water or sanitation. His return to South Africa,
where he helped build 25 two bedroomed houses last year, is mainly
due to the fantastic financial support he received over the past
few months. Michael wishes to thank all Culdaff and Malin communities
concerned for their help.

Greencastle Pier Development
Councillor Marian McDonald has welcomed the news of Dermot Ahern
T.D. Minister for Communications Marine and Natural Resources that
he has approved the advancement of the project to planning stage
for the development of Greencastle Pier and it is envisaged that
the County Council will commence this to process shortly.
McDonald Welcomes Euro Funding
Councillor Marian McDonald has welcomed grants allocation totalling
16.5 million euro by Pat the Cope Gallagher T.D. Minister of State.
The grant will be administered by County Council Task Forces which
are responsible for the delivery of three measures under Peace II
Programme. The measures receiving funding from these grants will
focus on support for projects which benefit both urban and rural
local communities and enhance the attractiveness of border areas
for visitors and investment. Donegal has received 4,430,000.
