Inishowen Youth Councillors on Highland Radio
A number of youth councillors from Inishowen and Donegal took part
in a special training programme recently that will see them presenting
their own show on Highland Radio on Friday, 25th June. Majella Lynch
of Crana College, was one of the participants.
The Highland Radio Training Programme was held in the Education
Centre, St Conal's Hospital, Letterkenny, on Saturday 20 March.
Donal Kavanagh gave a general introduction to working on a radio
show and helped us decide on the form and contents of our programme,
said Majella. We attended another training session last Saturday.
This time Eric Dixon gave a 6 hour workshop on all aspects of putting
a radio show together - from writing scripts for radio to interviewing
skills, voice skills, presentation, etc. It was a very enjoyable
day and we got a lot of useful tips for our own show,.
Everyone has now been given specific jobs for the show, which will
go out on Friday 25th June. We're looking forward to the show which
will cover a range of youth issues, and feature a few interesting
interviews as well as some original music. One of the unique things
about this show is that all the music played will be provided by
local bands - giving them a chance to have their music showcased
across the airways.
