Cardonagh Community School Spanish student honoured.
Alanna McCandless a forth year student in Carndonagh Community
School was recently honoured in the Spanish Embassy for having achieved
first place in Ireland in her Junior Certificate Spanish Exam.
A special ceremony to mark this achievement was held in the Spanish
Embassy on 21st April. Among the invited guests, along with Alanna,
were her parents Mary and Marshall McCandless, Mr Paul Fiorentini,
School Principal, and Ms. Maura Kennedy, teacher and Head of the
Spanish Deptartment.
The ceremony was also attended by Ms. Joan Sutton, Inspector of
Spanish at the Department of Education, Xavier Gisbert, Education
Adviser at the Spanish Embassy in London, Miquel Angel, Language
Adviser with the Spanish Embassy in Dublin and Ms Bridín
Gilroy, National Co-Ordinator of the Post Primary Languages Initiative
from the Marino Institute of Education in Dublin.
