Greencastle Sister's Graduation
Two Greencastle sisters Lucy Haverty and Rosemarie Small (originally
Cavanagh of Drumaweir) have earned, respectively, a BA in Social
Work and a BSc in Social Sciences.
Rosemarie studied with the Open University and graduated after
six years study at a ceremony in London's Royal Festival Hall in
June.
Lucy went to college in Aberedeen's Robert Gordon University and
graduated in December after completing her three year course.
Both sisters attended the others ceremonies.
Lucy and Rosemarie live and work in London, and gave each other
moral support juggling academic life and full time jobs and family
life.
Lucy works in inner London in a stressful job, and often found
there would be too much work and not enough time, and appreciated
that she could turn to Rosemarie for advice because she had the
same demands on her. Lucy travelled up to Aberdeen for one week
per term each year and says she found campus life exciting. "There
were a lot of mature students on my course but we still did all
the normal student things, like socialise in the union. I don't
think I could take all that partying anymore."
