Minister of Enterprise Visits Moville Business Park
Minister for Enterprise, Michael Martin, paid a visit to the new
Enterprise Park at Glencrow, Moville. Leo McCauley Chairman and
fellow directors of North East Inishowen Company - the promoters
of the park - welcomed the minister and wished him well in his new
post.
Paying tribute to all the funders involved in the setting up of
this flagship project (International Fund for Ireland, Enterprise
Ireland, Donegal County Council, IRDL/LEADER, ADM/CPA and FAS),
Mr McCauley said the park was now 70% booked and stressed to the
minister the importance of small to medium enterprises in the promotion
of local economies.
Minister Martin informed those present that €5 million had
been allocated in the recent Budget towards the Social Economy Fund
and that the government recognised the value of the small to medium
enterprise to the benefit of the national economy. The Minister
also recognised the valuable role of local communities in providing
suitable environments for the SME sector. He said that "the
enterprise centre at Glencrow was exactly the kind of project he
wanted to see happening"
It was also stressed to the minister the value of preserving community
employment and social schemes to keep local economies working especially
in peripheral areas like Inishowen.
Minister Martin met the tenants of the Park, Moville Pottery, where
he was given refreshments and a pottery demonstration by Lowry Wasson,
and Moville Clothing Company, where Mr Harry Doherty, Managing director,
presented him with a Moville made shirt.
