Response awaited on Moville Fire Station
Fianna Fail councillor Marian McDonald spoke with The Director
of Water, Environment and Emergency Services, Mr Jim Holohan, at
a County Council Meeting in connection with the new Fire Station
for Moville. Mr Holohan told her that a specific application for
approval in principle in respect of a new Fire Station for Moville
was submitted to the Dept. of the Environment, Heritage and Local
Government last November and a response is awaited. A potential
site has been identified but purchase will be conditional on Planning
Permission being granted. An application of Planning Permission
has been lodged.
Mr Holohan further explained that locating a suitable site for
the station within the town limits had proven immensely difficult.
Over the years, at least fifteen sites had been looked at and rejected
for one reason or another.
A report regarding the status of Planning Permission for the proposed
site should be presented to the May 31st Council meeting. In other
respects progress on the project will be dictated by the timing
of the granting of the usual staged approvals by the Department
of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
