Special fun and games at Moville Equestrian Centre
Participants from all over the county, including Buncrana and Donegal
Town attended the event held at the Cooley Equestrian Centre in
Moville.
The games were hosted by centre owners, Maureen and Jude Doherty,
with the help of their daughter Gillian and members of the Inishowen
branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Ms Mahon from Scoil Iosagain, Buncrana said the event provided
all the participants with a wonderful day out and a sense of achievement.
"There was a fabulous sense of satisfaction for the children
who took part. Everybody really rose to the occasion," she
said.
The games were the heats of the Special Olympics 2007 equestrian
games. Winners who were judged on their horsemanship and stable
work, among other criteria, aim to forward to the regional and then
the national heats. Maureen Doherty said she was delighted to host
the event at the Cooley Equestrian Centre. "Everything went
off without a hitch and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves,"
she said
