1. Business History
The Gillen family, have been in business since 1956, when Eamonn
Gillen opened his shop on Foyle Street. The shop then was extended
on four occasions over the next twenty years, always doing good business.
Sadly in 1986 Eamonn died suddenly, but his sons carry on the business
to this day. The shop is on a new site on Main Street and business
is still thriving. We are always trying to supply the goods at reasonable
prices and in prime condition with of course friendly service.
2. Fruit & Veg
The Fruit and Vegetable section of the store is very important to
the shop. We get produce literally from all over the world, from South
Africa to North America and back East and West. There's plenty of
local produce here too were possible.
With daily deliveries and a chilled shelf unit produce is always
fresh and plentiful.
3. Hardware
The store carries a large selection of household hardware goods,
everything for the kitchen and everyday chores around the house.
There is also a good selection of cards and stationary, from birthday
to congratulations cards. Everything you need to go back to school,
schoolbooks to Bic pens, we'll have all you need!
4. Groceries
Gillen's is an independent shop so we try and source their goods
at the lowest price; we pass on the savings to the customers. They
stock a wide range of groceries including specialty foods such as
Blue Dragon range and many pulse and health foods including Carrigane
Moss and Dulse.
If we don't have it in stock we do our very best to get it in! The
prices are very keen throughout the store with many special offers
changing fortnightly.
