According to Inishowen Tourism the ancient cross also known as St.
Patrick's Cross dates from around 650 AD and is generally accepted
to be the oldest 'low relief' cross standing in the whole of Ireland.
The cross was taken to the national monuments depot at Dromahair
Co. Leitrim for restoration 1999, and was returned to the town in
late September 1999.
