What's On

Corncrake Census The number of calling corncrakes in Ireland this year has fallen dramatically. With just a few weeks left until the final deadline of the corncrake census, Birdwatch Ireland are appealing to members of the public to contact them if they hear any of these birds. Corncrakes are in danger of extinction in Ireland and it is vitally important that we monitor their population. The male utters a distinctive 'crek crek' call mostly at night. Please contact Daniel on 087 2545094.

Action Inishowen If you are in receipt of a Fuel Allowance Action Inishowen would like to hear from you. With the glorious sunshine of recent days this is possibly not the best time of the year to think about your house as to whether it is warm or cold in winter. The installation of attic insulation can increase the warmth within and save you money on your fuel bills. Through funding from Sustainable energy Ireland (SEI) and with the support of FAS, through a Community Employment Project (CEP), Action Inishowen is working to address fuel poverty. To make your home more energy efficient we may be able to help by installing draught proofing and attic insulation. The Warmer Homes Scheme, which is being administered by SEI, is designed to assist low income householders who are not in a financial position to make energy efficient upgrades. We are currently drawing up lists of people who require this service. Please forward your name, address, date of birth, the type of Social Welfare Benefit you are receiving, and your ESB Metre Point Reference No. to Action Inishowen, Millbrae, Carndonagh on 07493 74529 or by email to info@actioninishowen.com. Alternatively, you may wish to contact your local Care of the Aged or St. Vincent de Paul with whom Action Inishowen works closely on this project.
