Samaritans 24:7 Campaign |
Samaritans is holding
its 24:7 campaign on the 24th July for the third year running
to raise awareness of the round-the-clock support that the
charity's volunteers offer to anyone in emotional distress
and to raise funds. To continue to provide 24 hour emotional
support Samaritans needs funds and the charity's volunteers
are working hard to raise money for this year's 23:7 through
a variety of events. The Derry Branch of Samaritans will be
holding collections outside local shopping centres and by
hosting a barbeque in the evening in St.Columb's Park House.
The event is on from 7pm - 10pm and there will be music provided
by Nashville singer Justin Black. The Mayor Gerard Diver will
also be attending the barbeque to lend his support. Tickets
to the event are £5 and everyone is welcome to come
along. However as numbers are limited anyone who would like
to go is asked to contact the branch before the event. Furthermore,
for anyone who is unable to attend the barbeque but would
like to organise an event in support of Samaritans that would
be greatly appreciated. The Derry branch of Samaritans is
in 16 Clarendon Street and the telephone number is 04871 265511.
Anyone who is in emotional distress or despair can call into
the centre between 10am and 10pm every day, ring the number
